Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is one of our go-to spots. Most weekends, you’ll find us there walking, running, or hiking with the dogs. What’s always surprising is how many people are unaware of this urban oasis that is so central to Mid City and South LA. Sandwiched between La Cienega and La Brea Boulevards, you’ll find 338 acres filled with hiking trails, ponds, playgrounds and nearly 360-degree views of Los Angeles. We love that the park is so easily accessible and, most importantly, it’s not crowded. Yes, you’ll be greeted by fellow walkers and joggers, but it’s nowhere near the crowds of Griffith Park and Runyon Canyon. Plus, insiders know that there’s free parking off of La Brea and Don Lorenzo Drive. Park there, and you can head into the back entrance by foot.
